About the Event
The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) course is designed for shooters, club officers, and range staff who want to step into a formal range safety role. As an RSO, you’re the person on the line who watches everything: muzzle direction, range commands, safe gun handling, and how people respond when something goes wrong.
During this course, you’ll work directly from official NRA materials and learn how to apply them on real-world ranges. We’ll walk through range standard operating procedures (SOPs), range inspections, safety briefings, and emergency plans, then practice how to safely handle and clear common firearm stoppages and malfunctions.
By the end of the course, you’ll understand your authority, your responsibilities, and how to keep shooters and bystanders safe while the line is hot.
What You’ll Learn:
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
Explain the role and responsibilities of the NRA Range Safety Officer.
